Motivation is a funny thing. When it’s present the drive to achieve is crazy. But keeping that fire going is difficult at times! This is so true for myself. I may give myself a few days off, which then turns into a week or a month.. and so on.
However, if you’re anything like me, having time away from the things that get your creative juices flowing have physical effects on you. My mood becomes very low and this kills my motivation. It becomes a downward spiral that’s hard to get out of.
Reigniting that passion then becomes hard, but necessary.
But how do you do it? Everybody is slightly different, I personally love watching YouTube videos on landscape and portrait photography and on gear that I won’t buy. Grabbing the camera and taking shots of utter crap helps me get out of the hole I’ve put myself in too. Providing the expectation is’n’t that the shots will be portfolio worthy though.
The questions you’ve got to ask yourself is “what got you into photography in the first place?”. “What is your passion?” and “ what can I shoot differently"?”.
Try to keep that fire stoked at all times so having to reignite it isn’t an option!
