Close the eye piece when shooting long exposures - Photography quick tips

Mechanical eye piece shutters. Some cameras have them, some don't.

If you're lucky enough to have one, close it when shooting long exposures. It will help prevent any possible light lights from happening.

If you don't have one, a piece of gaffer tape will work fine. Compose your photo, lock the tripod off, get focus, then cover the eye piece with the tape.

Quick and simple with no sticky residue.
